About Try it Once (or Twice)
Summary
Try it Once (or Twice) is an online brand that encourages its audience to get involved in their local communities by trying activities or hobbies just once. If it’s not for them after one try, they are free to move on with little or no costs to themselves. If they like it, they can go do the activity again or invest further into supplies for it should they want to.
The brand encourages people to try hobbies is through finding out what’s on offer in community spaces; such as classes at the library, workshops run in art galleries, events at locally owned craft stores, and getting involved in volunteer groups. The brand also encourages people to get initial supplies and equipment through local buy-nothing groups, thrift stores, or even borrowing it from libraries or business spaces that support that facility. In addition, the brand also encourages new experiences, such as trying a new recipe with ingredients that might be on offer, to the sharing of local events such as small gigs with low entry costs.
All in all, it is a way for people to find a new passion regardless of their financial status, and more importantly, to find community in world that feels isolating after the COVID19 outbreak.
Logos
I have picked purple and orange as brand colours as they are fun and playful. I want the branding to convey a sense of joy and curiosity, so I used a graffiti style font to make an eye-catching edit to the plainer basic serif font. I have also used a doodle-style image as part of logo, that can stand alone even without text. The doodle is a star because it is reminiscent of the star stickers children are given when they try something new, and I wanted to bring that sense of childhood curiosity back for the audience of the brand.
